New Site Feature:

We've recently created a blog and encourage you to comment on the articles we've shared here. Our goal is to create an environment where those who are hungry to know Jesus better can come and be edified with thoughts from the heart on the things He's revealed of Himself. To know Him is to love Him...

Here's a link to the Blog: www.khtmin.blogspot.com

The best way to make comment entries at the blog is to be sure you have a free Google email account and then use the Google option in the comments section.

Introduction to "Knowing Him Together" website:

Jesus is accessible to our spiritual senses!  Joyfully, freely, non-religiously, and without legalism-coercion-or manipulation! And, when you come to know Him this way you will wonder how you could have ever given yourself to any other approach. He is wonderful, He can be known, and we invite you to know Him together with us!

The New Testament makes it abundantly clear that Jesus can be personally known, heard, and seen with spiritual eyes and ears:

John 10:14  I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,
John 10:4  When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
John 10:27  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
1John 1:3  that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.
John 14:17  even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

Of all the things our lives can be about, we have settled that coming to know Jesus Christ is the thing which most defines who we are, and we invite you to know Him together with us, and to visit us often. Come dialogue with us in our blog entries, enjoy the various elements of the site, whether it be through the studies or blogs we are here to know Him together with you.

I was blessed to have the privilege of teaching at Portland Bible College, in Portland, Oregon, for 13 years. I've included most of the notes from those classes and you are invited to read and enjoy the journey of getting to know Christ better through them. As the Lord leads new studies will be written and shared so feel free to check back from time to time for new studies.

I like how Paul describes his passion for Christ:

Philippians 3:7  But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8  Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ  9  and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith-- 10  that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11  that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

1Corinthians 2:1  And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom.
2  For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

For the truths of the Word to be shared properly they must be shared as Paul references in Ephesians:

Ephesians 4:21  assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus,

From out perspective...sadly, the Church is too often focused on topics or subjects that are insufficiently about Jesus Himself. I'm not saying that there are no peripheral studies which have meaning, but when those studies are centered in Christ, for the purpose of revealing Christ, and clearly directed by Him, then they have value, but if the Church isn't careful it can become too much about religious information or programs and not enough about revealing Jesus. The born again heart is most especially hungry for more of Him. Just simply religious topics or activities will fail to feed the deepest needs believers have. When all we say and do in the Church is centered in Christ then the body grows strong and is readied to address the real needs of the world.

For the careful student of Paul's writings, you will note his significant use of prepositions: In Him, by Him, to Him, through Him, etc..  These tell us something about what Paul recognizes as the true focus for the believer's life. Having visited Heaven we believe that the thing that most impacted Paul was his experiencing how absolutely everything about Heaven is about and in Christ. Heaven is Jesus, and everything about Him. If we believe Heaven will be some kind of gratuitous resort of hedonistic pleasures we have completely missed the New Testament's revelation of Him. What will most be experienced the moment you arrive there is Jesus and how the entire environment is bathed in Him personally. We will spend eternity discovering ever new aspects of His person and plan and we will never become bored with such a focus. His glory will so enwrap our lives with spiritual joy and meaning that all memory of earth and its sorrows will be swallowed up in His unfolding glory to us.

It is not enough to know biblical information, or to pursue biblical knowledge as an end in itself. For biblical truth to be safe, accurate, and life giving it needs to be known "In Jesus." This means that all that we think we know must be seen in and through Him, to see it "In Him," to know as if we were literally inside Him and knowing it as He knows it, to know it by the personal assistance of the Holy Spirit of Christ, otherwise that which we know can easily become error, a source of pride or manipulation of others. We must see it "In Him, by Him, through Him, and to Him." When we know truth this way it is both edifying to us and to others because it is a "knowing" beyond human opinion...it is knowing it from inside Jesus' own heart and mind. This is spiritual knowledge and the only true way to know the Word of God.

Paul describes this further in 1 Corinthians 2:

1Corinthians 2:10  these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.

God bless you, as you grow to know Him. Jesus promised Nathanael, as a simple brother, something I believe to be a prototype of relational potential for all of us, and I leave it with you to ponder, long for, and enter into:

John 1:47  Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!" 48  Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you." 49  Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!" 50  Jesus answered him, "Because I said to you, 'I saw you under the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see greater things than these." 51  And he said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."

Heaven is open, and the angels know Jesus is where the action is. Come join us as we learn to enjoy an open heavens focused on Jesus.
